Quilted Connections: Sisterhood in Cloth

Three members of the African American Quilters of Baltimore, Sandra Smith, Rosalind Robinson, and Glenda Richardson, have created quilts to thank and honor all those who supported the Peale’s renovations and reopening this year. In addition, the quilters have created a stand-alone exhibition of their work over the years, reflecting the magic and virtuosity of their craft.

Quilted Connections is an exhibition of 17 large-scale quilts that feature everything from exquisite portraits of historical figures like Harriet Tubman and Mahalia Jackson to African-inspired designs and memories of family.

The exhibition also includes an Audio Tour, narrated by the quilters themselves. Learn about their process, inspirations, and techniques. The audio tour is available through the Smartify app and on SoundCloud.
