In conjunction with the Chamber of Wonders exhibition, join Lisa Moren for a truly wondrous afternoon! A meditation session and musical event with vocalist, Bonnie Landers, will surprise and delight how a talented singer will improvise and react to the light emanating from the bioluminescent microbes. The dinoflagellate microbes in turn react to her voice.
Following this oxygen producing performance, the audience will be invited to stay for a guided meditation and conversation. Visitors will not be able to enter late, but a second performance-meditation will be available. This intimate event will include a pitch-black room during the performance and silence during the meditation and is therefore not suitable for most children under 12 years old.
Dinoflagellate (pyrocistis) are micro-organisms in the Chesapeake Bay (and around the world) that both bioluminesce and produce oxygen. The dinoflagellate microbes in turn react to her voice. Following this oxygen producing performance, the audience will be invited to stay for a guided meditation and conversation.
An artist and marine biologist have collaborated to present the exhibition Chamber of Wonders, a series of hands-on installations and displays telling the invisible stories of living microbes under the surface of the Chesapeake Bay. Photography, hand-made objects and painted assemblages alongside multi-media, live microbes, augmented reality and animation and sound will be interacting with live data streaming in from the Chesapeake Bay water.

Wheelchair and Physical Building Access / The Peale has a brand new elevator! The new accessible entrance is on the left side of the building, down Watchouse alley about 100 ft. There is a keypad on the right side of the elevator door. Press the button to call the elevator. There is a door that will swing open automatically once the elevator is called so stand back. Once the door is open you can enter the elevator portico and then step/roll/dance into the elevator. When you come out of the elevator you will be in a short hallway by the bathrooms and the lobby and welcome desk is on the right. There are three floors in the Peale there is a handrail on all flights of stairs. Various and ample forms of seating is available in every room. The historic entrance has five steps and no functioning handrail.
Parking / There is a temporary drop off spot in the “no parking” zone directly in front of the Holliday St. entrance. There are multiple public paid parking lots within a two block radius of The Peale as well as street parking. There are 4 access parking spots on the 200 block of Holliday Street.
