The Baltimore National Heritage Area (BNHA) is thrilled to present the winning entries of the 2023 It’s a SNAP photography contest and kick off the 2024 competition. The contest was open to amateur and professional photographers, ages 16+, to capture images that showcase the best of Baltimore. This year, BNHA was looking for what makes Baltimore, “Charm City”—its PEOPLE. Therefore, participants were encouraged to capture and submit photos of people in many facets, from attending festivals and recreational events or enjoying the park to completing daily chores, walking to work, or enjoying a meal at a local restaurant. Participants were encouraged not to use professional models but rather people who live, work, and play in Baltimore.

Winning photographers receive prizes and a special Baltimore National Heritage Area promotional product in 2024. The best images are also showcased on BNHA’s social media channels and featured in The Peale’s exhibit. “We are so excited to expose people to the Baltimore National Heritage Area and showcase the best of our city,” said Shauntee Daniels, executive director of BNHA.
